Tintsaba (Swaziland)

Since 1985, Tintsaba has run a rural development project in the Northern Hhohho region of Swaziland. The project works with women's groups producing and marketing quality crafts. Using a fine coiling technique, the discs for jewellery and baskets are woven from sisal, a fibre made from the agave plant which is an evasive plant species. Before the sisal is ready for production, the fibres must be stripped, cleaned, and spun by hand. Weaving is a labour intensive task; it can take up 50 hours to spin the fine yarn and complete the weaving of a basket. The sisal is processed using little water and GOTs certified organic dyes. Tintsaba endeavours to be sustainable in all areas of production.

The women who make Tintsaba products receive training enabling them to become master weavers, silversmiths or managers, giving them the chance to lift themselves and their families out of poverty. Their products are certified Fair Trade and recognised around the world for their outstanding quality as well as the beautiful story attached to them. Your purchase helps support rural women in Swaziland to continue supporting their families through handicraft production.

The Sisal Rings are made from 925/ sterling silver, the large is 2.7cm in diametre with the small 2cm in diametre.
